Welcome to the first site dedicated to Missouri’s progressive candidates. We hope you will be able to use this site to further your own knowledge of candidates within your area and also in other parts of the state. For that is what makes this site different.

This web site is sponsored by the ERA Campaign Missouri, a non-partisan task force of the Missouri Women’s Network. Our goal is to elect officials who will support passage of the ERA, and who will also support issues important to most women. We believe government works better with women involved. While we are strong advocates of more women participating in government, we have evaluated candidates in each race and have endorsed those candidates who share our views regardless of gender.

We believe that electing progressive candidates in our own backyard is not enough. We haven’t been able to pass the ERA by staying in our own yard; we have had a difficult time fending off attacks on our reproductive rights by staying close to home. So we need to think outside the box. The box is our district. We believe if women support these candidates, no matter where they live, we can have a huge affect on the outcome of the election.

Women need to support progressive candidates financially. Part of women taking their place at the political table includes donating to candidates. We hope you will write a check to candidates in your own district, as well as candidates throughout the state. This may mean sending a check to a candidate in Nodaway County or in Jackson County, even if you live in St. Louis. It doesn’t have to be a large check. Small checks will quickly add up. Our goal is to elect progressive women to all levels of government. Won’t you help us elect these candidates to the Senate, the House, or the County Clerks Office?

Women need to encourage progressive women to run for office, and work on local campaigns. Getting women in the political pipe line is critical for equal representation in government. Our goal is to have progressive women running at all levels of government throughout Missouri. Join our efforts by forming a local affiliate, or Kitchen Cabinet.
